Nikoi and Cempedak Island

Nikoi, a 15-hectare private island situated 8km off the eastern shores of Bintan, Indonesia, lies less than 85km away from Singapore, with a travel time of approximately two and a half hours from Tanah Merah ferry terminal.

Renowned for its pristine beauty, Nikoi stands as one of the most captivating islands along this largely untouched coastline. Encircled by powdery white beaches and vibrant coral reefs, the island’s coastline is adorned with striking white granite boulders, seemingly defying gravity. Moreover, Nikoi is adorned with a lush rainforest harboring towering trees, including indigenous Banyans, providing refuge to a myriad of local bird species.

Cempedak, a neighboring 17-hectare private island located 9km off the eastern coast of Bintan, Indonesia, boasts a rainforest sanctuary for various indigenous bird species, such as hornbills. Distinguished for its commitment to sustainability, Cempedak partnered with Canopy Power to implement a PV-Diesel-Battery hybrid microgrid, reducing diesel consumption significantly.

Nikoi’s dedication to responsible tourism extends to environmental conservation and restoration. Constructed and operated with strict sustainable principles, the island utilizes local materials, labor, and services, fostering the development of essential trades and skills within the community.

Additionally, Nikoi’s owners played a pivotal role in establishing and funding two local foundations addressing critical environmental issues. One foundation focuses on safeguarding a Marine Protected Area spanning approximately 120,000 hectares, while the other concentrates on combating coastal plastic pollution, implementing interventions to mitigate plastic influx from nearby communities.

Moreover, Nikoi’s staff actively contribute to these initiatives, reinforcing the island’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Visitors can explore Nikoi’s positive impact on the local environment and community through the vetted 4Cs Impact Statement endorsed by the Long Run.

Chosen to provide solar structures for both islands due to their ability to withstand high winds, we utilized Alu-6066T66, a top-grade aluminum material resistant to seawater exposure, ensuring the durability of the installations. Additionally, we offer a 25-year warranty on the solar structures, ensuring customer satisfaction and peace of mind.
