IKEA has taken another step toward sustainability by installing a solar energy system at its new distribution center in Pulau Indah, Port Klang, Malaysia. Strategically located near the coast, this solar plant demonstrates IKEA’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact through renewable energy solutions.
The installation features a ballasted solar solution, expertly designed to rest on a membrane roof without penetration, effectively avoiding waterproofing issues. The system accounts for the roof’s load-bearing capacity while adhering to strict fire safety regulations, ensuring both functionality and safety.
This solar project represents just the beginning of IKEA’s green energy journey at this facility. Phase 1 has been completed, and phase 2 is planned for future implementation as energy consumption increases, reflecting IKEA’s forward-thinking approach to sustainability.
By integrating solar power into its operations, IKEA continues to lead by example, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable business practices and environmental stewardship.
