The leading semiconductor manufacturer Global Foundries has taken the initiative to deploy 4.5MWp of rooftop solar in collaboration with Cleantech Solar, a prominent APAC regional energy solution provider offering power purchase agreements.
Semiconductor facilities typically entail investments ranging from USD 3 to 4 billion due to the high costs of manufacturing equipment for cutting-edge chips. Consequently, these facilities are constructed with membrane roofs featuring stringent waterproofing properties. Therefore, such roofs must adhere to FM Global solar requirements, including the installation of solar structures classified as Class A fire-rated under ANSI/1703 standards. Moreover, the solar system must comply with the “Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet,” with the specific structure supplied meeting the standards of Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel (BLWT) Testing and utilizing a Ballasted PV system.
