DBS Asia Hub

The Development Bank of Singapore (DBS) building located at Changi Business Park represents a significant milestone as the first bank in Singapore to embrace solar energy atop its roofspace. This initiative underscores DBS’s strong management commitment to fostering a more sustainable world and reducing its carbon footprint across its operations. Situated in close proximity to the iconic Singapore Changi Airport, the building stands out and is visible just before aircraft touch down on the runway.

One of the key considerations in implementing the solar system was ensuring that it does not interfere with aircraft navigation. The solar structure has been carefully designed to mitigate any glare or obstruction for pilots, maintaining safety standards for air traffic while harnessing renewable energy. Additionally, the solar installation utilizes a solar ballasted system, meaning it doesn’t compromise the integrity of the existing waterproofing of the membrane roof. This aspect is crucial to preserving the warranty and avoiding any potential damage to the roof, as the solar products are compatible with the specific brand of membrane roofing used in the construction. This holistic approach not only promotes sustainability but also ensures seamless integration of renewable energy solutions without compromising existing infrastructure or safety standards.
