Renowned insurance companies like FM Global, AXA, and MarshMcLennan, which specialise in providing insurance for commercial and industrial properties, often require that solar installations adhere to local wind codes or ACSE7-21 standards. Additionally, the solar mounting design for solar ballast installation must undergo a Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Test (BLWT) as per ACSE 49.
And for solar panels installed over metal standing seam roofs (SSR), the external seam clamps must be FM Approved and properly fit the specific seam rib type at each seam.

With the recent raise of fire case on rooftop solar, solar mounting should meet the testing requirement of ANSI/UL 1703.2014 Section 16 and 31.2 for Class A rating.

For membrane roofs, protection mats should be laid on flats and underneath the solar system with a roof resistance of Broof(t1), DIN EN 13501-5.

I.F.I. Institute

Our solar structure compliant with international standards, specifically the stringent American building standard ASCE 7-22 and the American guideline for wind tunnel investigations ASCE 49-21, both recognized as leading authorities on PV wind loads.Our test certification includes boundary layer wind tunnel (BLWT) testing, which is conducted to evaluate wind loads and resistance on roof-mounted PV panels. It is essential that the scaled models used accurately represent the proposed roof-mounted panels, particularly for ballasted arrays.
