YAMARNA MINING EXPLORATION CAMP

An outstanding installation undertaken by our partner, Unlimited Energy Australia, has been recognized as a finalist by Smarter E Europe, one of the most prestigious awards in the solar industry bestowed by SolarQuarter. The Smarter E Award celebrates innovative concepts and technologies in energy and mobility, honouring companies that significantly contribute to advancing a renewable 24/7 energy supply.

The client sought an economically viable solar renewable energy solution for the Yamarna mining exploration camp, aiming to diminish reliance on diesel power generation, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and associated costs such as maintenance and fuel transport to the remote site. Additionally, the solution needed to minimize environmental impact, offer potential for future expansion, provide easily movable infrastructure, and ensure a payback period of under five years.

OUR SOLUTION

Given the challenging desert conditions prone to high wind loads that could disrupt traditional installations and the costly nature of manual labor and machinery in remote mining areas, our G+ solar structure was the ideal solution. Its rapid deployment capability without the need for heavy machinery addressed these concerns effectively.

The entire solar installation has been meticulously designed to be scalable, modular, and redeployable, including both the solar array and battery storage hub, enabling easy expansion or relocation to different sites throughout its service life.

These innovations have been specifically tailored to overcome the constraints of traditional renewable energy infrastructure within the mining sector. In temporary applications like the Yamarna exploration camp, the hub’s redeployability offers significant value, mitigating the risks associated with investing in extensive infrastructure during early mine development stages and providing essential flexibility, particularly during exploration phases.
